July 25th I got into a conversation with an atheist on twitter


So I started reading "The God Delusion" like I promised I would.

at this point I've only finished the second chapter. It's a very interesting book. I've never heard an argument for atheistium so relentless and candid.

It creates in me some interesting feelings and thoughts.

I find myself cringing at the things that make Dawkins cringe and laughing at the things Dawkins mocks. But at the end of the day (thus far) I still don't see what it has to do with God, just God.

After reading the preface I jotted down this thought:
To focus solely on the lowest points in religions history as reason for it’s annihilation is like using every malpractice case as reason to cease modern medicine! The religious, like all humans, suffer from the same problem: Ignorance, inexperience, mistakes are all facts of all lives in the human race. It is only through failure, experimentation that we find truth. Religion has a very bloody past equally as bloody as medicine and science.
The Spanish Inquisition is to Christianity what Haeckel's embryos are to science. Or lobotomies to medicine.

Atheists to date cite religions' lowest points as reason for God's non existence. I think we can all agree the low points are embarrassing and not to be placed in the "pros" column for religion but how does such a point nullify the existence of God?

Last night I caught wind of this terrible interview on Fox News with Reza Aslan. As I was watching it I remember that I had heard an interview from this cat on NPR on Sunday morning.

I really respect Reza's view of Jesus and I look forward to reading his new book once I've finished Dawkins'. He understands who Jesus really was. He wasn't "nice" He was human. Obviously we aren't in agreement 100% but I can jive with him. So after watching the Fox interview I immediately looked the dude up on twitter and began reading his tweets. I came across this one:
A man after my own heart! I was in awe that this dude tweeted my exact thoughts from the Dawkins book. So I read the article he attached and I found myself nodding! he mentions this parable "The Grand Inquisitor" found in the book The Brothers Karamazov Its a bit too wordy for directly pasting to so a quick google search could do the trip or this half hour clip on Youtube.

Powerful stuff! It begs the question what would Jesus say if He came back today. It also begs the question what would our world look like without religion but still Christians. I wonder how atheists would feel about Christians if we humans didn't give them so much ammo against us but rather expressed only love and faith.

Christians would probably look more like Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King Jr. rather than Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, and Joel Osteen

With those sorts of people leading the way for religion who in their right might could begin to formulate an argument towards the dismantling of religion and the Kingdom of God?
